About the author...

Ken Beck was born in Murfreesboro, a fifth-generation Tennessean. He was a teacher and coach for three years in Lebanon before joining the Nashville Tennessean in 1977, where he was a feature writer for over 30 years and was editor of Sunday Showcase entertainment magazine for 25 years. In his weekly Ask Ken Beck trivia column he answered more than 13,000 questions from readers about their favorite stars, TV shows and movies, musicians, tunesmiths, and authors.
He and writing partner Jim Clark have penned numerous books, a dozen of them related to their favorite TV show, The Andy Griffith Show, including their million-selling Aunt Bee’s Mayberry Cookbook.
For the past 13 years, Beck has been a freelance feature writer working with community newspapers in Lebanon, Woodbury, Carthage, Murfreesboro, and other towns as he profiles ordinary Tennesseans who have extraordinary stories to share. And from 2009 until 2015, he was a contributor to American Profile magazine, which went into millions of homes every week.
He has been blessed to be able to travel the state extensively discovering wonderful people, places, and things that define the Volunteer State.
